MARGE WATTERS, Career Consultant and Coach

Marge Watters is a career consultant and coach who has spent more than twenty years helping individuals find their ideal career path and maximize their career potential. She has extensive experience both with those in transition and those seeking development on the job.

As a career consultant, Marge has worked with individuals from all levels of the organization across a wide variety of industries. Marge has helped many people move successfully through the challenging process of career transition, and she has counseled people looking for a better fit within their chosen profession.

As a coach, Marge has worked with individual clients from a variety of organizations on leadership competencies, managerial skills, communication style and career fit. Her background as a business leader and her extensive coaching experience positions her well to help clients recognize and capitalize on their strengths as well as identify blind spots and make changes that improve both relationships and performance.

Among Marge’s notable achievements is the authoring of It’s Your Move – A Personal and Practical Guide to Career Transition and Job Search for Canadian Managers, Professionals and Executives, published by HarperCollins in 2001 with subsequent editions in 2004 and 2007. This best-selling book is also available in French and Chinese.

Prior to 2006, Marge and her partner, John Knebel, built and led Knebel Watters & Associates (now KWA Partners), a successful and well-respected career management firm. As Knebel Watters & Associates grew from start-up to ranking among the top five organizations in its industry, Marge gained solid leadership experience in strategic planning, business development, and operations. She also developed programs to support corporate clients in planning and implementing organizational change initiatives including re-structuring, outsourcing, acquisition integration and downsizing. Marge has worked with several organizations in the development of strategies and programs using assessments for selection and career management as a retention tool.

Marge’s early experience includes 19 years in the financial services industry including corporate finance, and investment banking. She was a Vice President of Citibank Canada, and co-founder of Penfund Management Ltd. and Permanent Commercial Corporation.

Marge holds a Master of Divinity degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Northwestern University. She is qualified to use and interpret a number of career assessment and personality inventories.
